That brought up a matter that bothered me: the black guy always buys the farm in movies even sometimes when they appear to be out of danger. The guy who wrote the article lists _55_ movies, many where Ar-nold is the worst offender, where usually blacks die trying to help white people or some other crap.
I wonder, as screenwriters, do you do that consciously or is it some Hollywood process that insures that the "B team" who are always minorities always die needlessly will die at the end? Why is almost always white people who survive rather than black *and* white? ---
My answer to the question is it's about perception.
White and Black
Black and White
White and Black
Good and Bad
Bad and Good
What is the first word that comes to your mind, if you have to answer only Good or Bad.
Everytime someone shows you a photo, you must give your first response, Good or Bad.
Someone shows you a photo of a white guy. Good or bad Someone shows you a photo of a black guy. Good or bad Photo of an apple Good banana good sunshine good Hitler bad white guy good black guy
In cowboy movies, the good guy wears white, the bad guy wears black.
Bad guys always die. Bad guy is wearing black. Black is bad.
So my silly conclusion is, the black guys dies in movies because they are wearing black (skin color)! He's already dressed for the part of the bad guy! It's type casting.
I think somewhere along the line, people perceive black to be a bad color and they get mixed up the color black with people who are black.
The Starmaker
Girls wear black to night clubs because they want to be bad.
People are scared of the dark.

 | Hollywood *can* be quite color-prejudiced at times.

I think you're right. In this case, the racial stereotype hides the fear of racial genocide. "White man" wants assurance that he's the survivor.
So tell me, have you ever written a script where you survived the "notes" sessions with your principles intact?
