Here's our chance to find out what Suprnova turned into...

http://www.exeem.com/

Just downloaded and installed it, works very well for running torrent
files, but seem to have problems searching etc system is saying it
can't connect to a node?

Seems okay here now - I think it's just very early days in the network
and there aren't many users there yet (mind you, the user count has
gone up 2000 in the last hour or so!)

I have searched okay for the usual strings ("Daily Show", "West Wing",
"24", "Tiesto"). Seems to work okay for downloads, though for some
reason I'm not pushing anything currently - suspect that's because
it's just a few small test files I'm trying. When the first Daily Show
of next week kicks in I suspect it'll be different!

So far, so good - quite like it, and it seems to work.

Paul.

Mine seems to be working now
Interesting, see how it goes, but as an interface for keeping all my
torrents together, certainly seems a good tool..

I haven't tried it myself yet, checking the reviews first. I'm of course
interested in your opinions. Would you agree with this review:

In short, no. The reviewer based it on the private beta experiences,
and although this will test the core technology, the true benefits
will only come when there are tens of thousands (as now) or,
eventually, hundreds of thousands of simultaneous users.

Reviewing something based on 5,000 test users most of whom seeded 1
file is hardly a fair-use review!

I'd say give it a few weeks to get widely installed and then review
it. Like any torrent-ish or kazaa-lookalike system, you'll never get
the sort of download speeds you get from an FTP or newsgroup server
[1], but it'll be a useful addition to the armoury.

Paul.

[1] Small qualification to that - I *always* seem to get 150+KB/s when getting
The Daily Show on Bittorrent!
