# ...in no way do I think that Tarot is limited as a system more
# than I Ching.

how might we compare them?

in doing so, a set of characteristics may fall into place for
very old Oracles, or those of particular categories, and this
might be used to taxonomize and understand their relations.

for example....

===================================================================================
ORACLE Yijing Tarot
===========================================================================
char: instance
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
angel: Fu Xi's Book Hermes-Thoth's Book
planet: Mercury-oriented) (8x8) Mercury (alphanumeric)
change: book accretions deck revisions
numer.: 64 hexagrams 78 cards
orien.: member set structural integrity
factor: binary 2^6 septenary (7x11;7x3) + seasonal (14x4; 56)
symbol: sparse geometric complex thematic
mania: Chou dynasty Egypt [particular period(s)/fantasy?]
expon.: Shao Yong Etteilla, Levi, Papus, Wirth, Crowley
diagr.: geometric, relational geometric, relational
instr.: included in 10 Wings written by the Magus, intuited from Thoth
===================================================================================

where
char -- characteristic within the Oracle
numer -- numerological members
orien -- orientation as presented
expon -- exponent(s)
diagr -- diagrams instructing with members
instr -- instructions for use of the Oracle

these could be compared and contrasted with other Oracles and those of
similar composition and purpose in an understanding of general oracular
and magical tools. extra points for completeness and succinctness. those
adjudged worthy might be fitted into role-playing game supplements. :>

# I use it for divination and in pathworking and meditation....

I'm beginning Pathworking with them as I compose the cards, tuning in
meditatively to what I understand Mercury-Hermes-Thoth to be, focussing
on cards during study and passive reception, constructing a Book of Thoth.

your usage is familiar to me otherwise, and I've found *both* Yijing
and Tarot valuable for meditation and divination. where the employment
for magical effect is concerned, being more familiar with Tarot I was
more keen to employ it for magical pursuits. typically I use Yijing as
an augury for creating magical tools, since helping to make oracular
methods with least tools possible (just Yijing! bibliomantic:2+8=>64).

to get the hexagram for line-generation, flip through Yijing!
select 6 hexagrams using Yijing (or the Yi of your choosing!)
and put them through this operator immediately above.

think it too predictable (good way to become familiar with
certain hexagrams elsewise, by position in text)?

turn the book upside down
pick a page number
place object whilst flipping
choose a Wing page number
