 | On Wednesday night, I had a dream where I was talking with my cousing Barry who is in prison on a very long sentence. He asked me "What does the Gospel mean?" I answered, "The gospel means that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried for three days, resurrected on the third day, and ascended into heaven where He sits on the right hand side of God's throne making intercession for you and me." Then, I awakened.

Since Jesus died for our sins, I say "Let's not disappoint Him!" :-)

 | Actually he wandered around for a week after his resurrection then went to heaven. I'm bummed out that since becoming a Christian I have more nightmares and unpleasant dreams than I had in my entire life. I only had one bad nightmare in my life before and have had more nightmares than there are prophecies and parables in the bible since.

 | Ninth:
find yourself a red-letter edition of the New Testament, and read *only the red parts*.
It will ease your mind considerably.

Oh! Okay! Here are of my juicy faves from the red parts where Jesus's eyes glaze over and he talks at length about burning folks in hell. The link is to the Gospel according to Matthew as published in the King James Bible (available online!), from whence I copied the text below. I especially like the last bit where he says he is personally going to see to it that the unrighteous will be cast into everlasting punishment.
Personally I am not fond of Ted Bundy, but I wouldn't burn him for eternity in a lake of fire, and I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment. I have a lot of problems with Christianity, but this is the most ridiculous.

Matthew 5:22: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Matthew 13:49: So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, Matthew 13:50: And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 18:8: Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. Matthew 18:9: And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
Matthew 25:41 through 25:46
31: When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
/snip/
41: Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44: Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45: Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46: And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

I *think* he was quoting from the OT at that point. I'll have to double check.
> Matthew 18:8: Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, > and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or > maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into > everlasting > fire. > Matthew 18:9: And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from > thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than > having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
This goes on to a conclusion, if I'm not mistaken, and if not in this chapter, then possibly in a different one: That is, Jesus summed up those verses 8 and 9 by stating that "I say to you that you should love thine enemy," rather than hate him or take an eye for an eye. I'll eventually get around to spotting that chapter, but for now it's late and I'm over worked and under-slept.

well... *SOME* body has to do it, eh???

Makes good sense to me. What?

Okay, if Mr. Dangerfield can spread the gospel according to Jaysis Krahst inappropriately on alt.dreams, I spoze I can provide the antivenom of Bertrand Russell.
Here's a link to the complete essay, "Why I am not a Christian."
http://www.positiveatheism.org/hist/russell0.htm
Christianity provides comfort and joy for many, including my dear old ma and pa, and for some reason only one of my six siblings. I say God bless 'em. I *never* would try to argue a happy Christian out the faith that sustains and nourishes them. However, for many others, Christianity produces fear, anxiety, and remorse, so I say, read Bertrand Russell and be delivered! Hallelujah! If you're strong in your faith, reading this essay won't shake it. If Christianity is a burden and causes you pain, it may help you.
When I was 18, finding only pain and fear in Christianity, into which I was indoctrinated as a child, a kind soul gave me a book in which this essay was published, and thereby set me free. I am not an atheist, but in one fell swoop I was relieved of the fear of hell and damnation and was able to proceed with living.
The salient points really begin with "Defects in Christ's teaching," and the sections that follow.
Good luck, happy dreaming, and happy living.

I have dreams about my own religion and spiritual path, too. Often they are more far-out and have to be interpreted, but still, I have them.
