i guess americans were also programmed to realize the stupidity of the
vietnam war and came out in the streets in support of no war....as did
the government (this actually happened folks) publicly admitting the
mistake....iraq may well be a different matter, having nothing to do
with freedom or atrocities committed which is the current reasons
given..........what would happen if we were deprived of middle east
oil?.....what would happen to our economy, our jobs, our very
lives?.........china and 3rd world countries have a growing demand for
oil which is a shrinking commodity. over two thousand years ago the
athens greeks protected their supply of grain in sicily from the
spartans which was crucial to its economy..nothing new here....oh
yes....the cry was "greek freedom"........some things never
change.....worth a thought at least.

| Well put danti, but we are at peak oil now ! That means that no new oil
fields worth exploring are being found. It is estimated that the oil will in
all practicality run out in 30 years or less. I think it's time alternative
energy sources be thought about before its too late.

according to some sources, we are already feeling the effect$ but
greater shortages will be obvious in less than 10 years....as for
alternative energy sources, they are inefficient as compared to
oil...and despite all the hype are decades away from full realization,
(if ever) in a pinch we could use more coal of which we have an
abundance of......but i recall coal firing furnaces and while they are
nostalgic are a problem when storing and utilizing.....try running a
car on coal....meanwhile science keeps plugging away....
