Welcome to alt.magick.

Here are the most important things to know about the group:

1. Most of the posts here come from a troll with dozens
of aliases. Too many to list and they change all the
time. You'll soon be able to pick them out.

Please don't feed this troll, even if the post you
are reading is reasonable.

The reason this mentally ill vermin hangs around is that
he/she/it is constantly being fed by the Alt Magick Cult
(described below) because he pretends to believe that
they are the advanced magickians they are pretending to
be.

2. There's a little cult of academics/bookworms here
pretending to be advanced magickians.

These people form the core of the AMC (Alt Magick Cult):

Cat Yronwode
Nagasiva/Tyaginator (Cat's husband)
Joseph Littlefoot
Rick
Asiya

They think they own this group.

Not one of them can use what *they* call "magick" to
do anything at all.

What they can do is play the role and parrot material
from books they've read that they _think_ are about magick
because the authors of those books _say_ they are about
magick.

Cat Yronwode and Nagasiva Yronwode/Tyaginator have a little
web business where they sell items that are alleged to have
magickal properties.

Me? I am a novice magickian that wasted a lot of years
listening to charlatans like the members of the Alt Magick
Cult.

Then I ran into some REAL magickians and am finally
getting somewhere.

See this article for a distillation of what I am learning
and some useful references:

But they want to believe in the random-mechanical-self-contained

Well, we have Niels Bohr's complementary principle: "Contraria sunt
complementa", that is, opposites are complementarity:

"If we adopt the complementary approach to problems of life we may discover
to our pleasant surprise that seemingly irreconcilable points of view need
not be contradictory. These, on deeper understanding may be found to be
mutually illuminating; the two apparently opposing views being partial views
of a 'totality' seen from different planes. It is well known that the
electron is a particle. It is equally well known that the electron is also a
wave. The wave and particle natures are flagrantly opposite because a
certain thing cannot at the same time be a particle (that is, substance
confined to a very small volume) and a wave (that is a field spread out over
a large space), but the electron exhibits both, though not simultaneously as
the two natures are mutually exclusive. The wave-particle duality of
electron presents a most familiar example of complementarity of opposites in
the domain of physics. In fact, the Principle of Complementarity formulated
by the Danish physicist Niels Bohr, has emerged from quantum physics."

I got a kick out of his post. First time in my life I've ever been
called an "academic". And it's funny to see Bruce use the word
"magickian" without a hint of irony.

"Charlatan" above is not the right word. It implies some
sort of malicious intent from the outset and I don't believe
that is the case.

My apologies.

However, these people have attacked anyone who has asked them to
provide evidence supporting their claims and have resorted to
malicious misquoting in the process, which is as low as you can
get on the Usenet. I can easily prove that.

When the attacks have failed to drive their critics away, they
have killfiled them, which is an act of pure bigotry.

Like I said: CULT WARNING

ha! I thought you objected to the use of the word "worship" in this kind
of context. At least you complained loudly when it was used like that in
alt.tarot.

Oh come on, you were there, when its a steady diet, when ANY comment is
either "worship" or "stalking" it is something to voice a critic of,
in this case your just looking for an excuse to voice your own
frustration with our semi divine wisdom which you have always been ready

It's not ANY comment, it's the quality and quantity of comments. And you
know this, because you used "worship" in the proper alt.tarot context.

But this is not Alt.Tarot and you know perfectly well that if any one
innocently repsonded to karlins baiting they were accused of either
"worship" or "stalking" depending on his mode du jour.

Note obligatory smiley face. It was a joke "Asyia" no more meant to be
taken seriously "in context" than the entire post, where in i instruct
the mulligan in the proper art of kissing his own ass, perhaps you need
a refresher course in that fine old art.

thanks for the info. the web site you referred me to is the
understanding i have about magick, you change reality through your
perceptions or what you believe or feel is real. most people are to
shallow to understand this basic principle. any way i have been
getting into taoism lately, my interpretation of it so far is that it
is a way of living in the moment with complete sense of contentment.
this would allow for the spontaneity
of the universe to bloom like a flower in your reality. or in other
words, life would be like a fun ride. share some of your incites
