 | They are trying to make some big cost savings, and they want to risk their perfect safety record by having overseas maintenance like India and Singapore. Will the flying public feel safe with this ? I think not.
Why doesn't Geoff Dixon sell off all his subsidary companies like Catering, Qantas Holidays, freight ect ect. Do they really need these overheads ?
They should stick to just flying planes, then there would be no need to have there planes fixed overseas . Anyway my thoughts.

Since the "flying public" is queueing up to fly SQ, I'd say "yes".

They make good use of the PROFITS these operations generate.
Why sell a business that generates net profit? Madness.

And if that fails to become profitable, you're rooted. Best to cater to, service, sell airfares for, etc other operations, so you can still make a profit.

Could well explain why Geoff Dixon is running the show - and not you.

I think not. What perfect safety record? While they haven't had a fatal accident in a long time, make no mistake, they have indeed had them. > >Why doesn't Geoff Dixon sell off all his subsidary companies like Catering, >Qantas Holidays, freight ect ect. >Do they really need these overheads ? Generally Holidays is a money maker, and so is catering. It is more a question of do you want to get out of the non-core businesses.

Why do you see these subsidiaries as overheads? They are profit centres! If they weren't contributing to Qantas' profits they would have been sold off long ago. > They should stick to just flying planes, then there would be no need to > have there planes fixed overseas . > Anyway my thoughts. Thanks. Much valued!
