G'day,

I'm having dramas trying to resuscitate a board, hoping somebody might be
able to steer me in the right direction.

It's a Jetway V266B Rev 3.0 board, FWIW. When I got it, it displayed the
Award BootBlock BIOS Version 1.0 screen and so I've done a bit of searching
for info and downloading so that I could try to re-flash the BIOS. However,
no luck so far.

As far as I can find, I've downloaded the correct BIOS version and the
flashing utility, copied them to a bootable floppy and (I think?) modified
the autoexec.bat file to automate the process as per instructions, but
without success. It recognises the floppy, says it's starting the flash
utility and then just sits with the utility screen open, no details in the
"Flash type" and the cursor flashing in the "File name to program" field.
The floppy activity light goes off and nothing else happens. I know that
BootBlock doesn't support video (except ISA - how useless is that?!) and
from what I've read so far the modified autoexec.bat file should have
automated the flashing process - so what am I doing wrong? I've even tried
typing in the instruction but still no result (or display, natch!).

To modify the autoexec.bat file, I opened Notepad and added the line :
awdflash.exe a:\v266ba13.bin /sn /py /cc /r then saved. Is this all that's
required (I've only ever had to flash a BIOS in a working machine
previously, so haven't had to go modifying system files or deal with
BootBlock) and is the syntax correct? Any other instructions I should have
included or steps I should take (apart from the "feel-good" one of chucking
the board at the person who assured me it was working!!)?

Any and all help appreciated.

On a Asus P4PE iirc ... I just reflash them with the older BIOS and automate
the process using autoexec.bat as in BootBlock mode some keys can't be
pressed.
Just do a normal flashing sequence and you'll be fine
