Boycotts DO have an effect.
Just look at Shell when the greenies decided to organise a boycott
against them on account of their plans to sink a couple of old oil
platforms in the North Sea - Shell had to back off in the end.
Nestle has also had to struggle for years against the appallingly bad
image they acquired when their dirty underhanded anti-social
strategies for pauperising (and killing) mums & babies in the 3rd
World got publicised.
Then there is MuckDonalds - noticed they have completely changed their
marketing strategies recently? - the ads are different and *no mention
of burgers* - it's all "salads" and other cr4p.
Boycotts ARE good, and we should target the ar$ehole spin merchants
who try to help big companies rip society off.

| I reckon some other companies are scared of the competition for the fast
food market from McDonalds.
Some companies have favourable connections and use them to run down (and
sometimes even destroy) companies that are competing with them.
It happened with the war on drugs, it also happens in wildlife trade, and
God knows what other matters the government has obviously found itself
controlling (while using a whole heap of falsehoods as excuses to keep the
common man from questioning them).
I don't always trust what people say about companies. I figure it out for
myself. If people want to double their weight by eating too much McDonalds
then they have only themselves to blame. Moderate diet and moderate exercise
go hand in hand with lifestyle.
We just cannot allow the government to initiate another "war" on some
ridiculous trumped up situation (ie. war on fast food). We've all seen what
happens when governments get too cocky, and we know the consequences.
It seems funny though that a lot of these so-called "wars" just happen to
target something that competes with something else. The reason why many
things are illegal is because someone is making too much money selling
something that is legal and they're scared of the competition by the product
that has been made illegal - I don't know how they make things illegal but
you can take a wild guess.
