100,000 re writes for dvdram compared to 1000 for +rw/-rw. I buy mine from Salesmart who advertise quite often in here.
I pay $5 or less from salesmart when buying in large quantities. Used about 40 in my twp panasonic recorders over the past year and a bit. All work fine.

 | Where the heck are you paying $20 for 10x DVD-R? You can get a box of 10 for $1 currently.

Yes. Vastly, and I mean vastly, better for data

For a start, you can reuse them 100.000 times instead of around 500 to 1000 times with the other formats.
There are many other advantages, but unless you're doing regular data backups or using a RAM-capable DVD recorder, don't bother.

DVD-RAM are rewritable
DVD-R are burn once only (did you mean DVD-RW?)

Yes I meant DVD-RW.

The general quality and error correction in DVD-RAM is far better than DVD-R or even RW but its probably not worth the difference in price at the moment, although you can get RAM discs at the swap meets for around $10.
