Nor do they serve "free" water.

I think if you ask for tapwater in one of their 'coke' cups, they can't
refuse or charge you
( not sure about that though )

I asked for that once at a cinema (not sure which one) and they wanted to
charge me 5 cents for the cup.

Re the bottled water - I take water from home too (usually just tap water),
it's ridiculous to expect you to pay for it if you can bring your own for
free. And I'll often take my own snacks as well - unless they can offer
exactly the same food (and at the same price as my local supermarket), they
IMO have no right to only allow you in with *their* food.

But I don't think people should be allowed to take in smelly messy food,
it's not fair on the other patrons.

I absolutely agree on both points... perhaps the vetting of bags should be by
way of sniff-test! :-)

Keep in mind that places serving alcohol (in NSW) have only had to give
out free water since mid last year....

Actually, on second thoughts, I just asked for a cup, I was going to fill it
up with tap water :)

The water is free, but they charge for the cup.

That reminds me of a tour I took once in a softdrink factory. We were
told we could take home as much softdrink as we could hold, but we couldn't
take any containers :(

I've seen you there, Monty, drinking out of the toilet.
