This is title of biography, and examples of work, of Leonhard Euler
(1707-1783), Swiss mathematician, of whom comment "master of us all" was
made by Laplace.
The 185-page book is written by William Dunham and published by the
Mathematical Association of America. It is written for the mathematically
literate, and admits to touching on only a small (but representative?)
sample of the vast output of Euler, a mathematical genius, who contributed
much to mathematics in all fields.
As a non-mathematician myself, I cannot hope to understand most of the
contents, but bought the book to add to my collection of history of science,
maths, etc.
Copy from Borders Bookshop for A$69-95.
This book (ISBN: 0-88385-328-0; 1999) is No.22 is an exposition series.
