 | Yes folks, this is the legendary Canon EF 200mm f1.8L lens. One of the sharpest lenses in its class (perhaps *the* sharpest lens) ever made. Unlike most other lenses, this lens is best used wide open (see http://www.wlcastleman.com/equip/reviews/200mm/index.htm). Very shallow depth of field, outstanding bokeh, etc. etc. etc.
I won't bore you with more superlatives. Do a web search or search the online forums at DPReview, Fred Miranda forums, etc. if you want to know more about this lens.
The lens is in excellent overall condition. The optics are near perfect. No scratches, fungus, haze, etc. A few dust specks are visible (which have *no* effect on the picture taken). Minor scratches and rub marks on the paintwork. Some paint chips to bottom of tripod mounting foot.
Please see detailed pics of the actual lens I have for sale by clicking on the link below (warning: large file 450kb):
http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~sardarji/sardarji/forsale/ef200a.jpg
Lens comes with lens trunk, front leather lens cover, rear lens cap, carry strap, UV and ND4 drop-in filters and photocopy of instruction manual.
The price is A$4500. Can be viewed and picked up in Melbourne eastern suburbs. Or I can send by registered post to anywhere in Australia at cost.
Email me (rarsin at hotmail dot com) if interested,
Cheers,
Rab.

That's all that's stopping you? If you're going to buy a $4500 lens, I reckon it'd be worth footing the bill for a ticket on a plane to go take a look (:
Me, on the other hand... Well, I live right in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, so getting there is no problem. Unfortunately, my route there is blocked only by the bank (:
Between the two of us we could probably do OK... you seem prepared to buy it, but cant get there... I can get there, but I cant buy it. So if you wire me the money, I'll pick up the lens (:
Scott.
