If you are going to donate, be careful who you give to. Some charities only actually spend as little as 33% in the area. The rest is lost to overheads.
As for fed govt's money. i thourght it was roughly $1b. Of this about 50% is actually for loans, so i theory we should get it back. The doo gooders are already saying this is unfair and should be a donation. Not sure how the other half is spent and if this includes the cost of the army, doctors, etc being over there. Is $500m too much to help out the locals? Personally if the govt chooses to donate $500m/20m = $25 of mine and another $25 as a loan, I didn't see the need to hand money over.

The tsunami appeals have raised enough money. Local charities are starting to suffer.

 | My bet is the election was a fraud. The figures were manipulated in the national tally room to reflect a howard win (note small letters) They were telephoned through from the tolling booths right but they were altered in the tally room. howard had to win because the truth would come out otherwise about what he knew about Iraq amongst other things, what he was told and that he was told not to join the coalition as it was illegal, it need to be sanctioned by the UN security council to make it legal, any other action is illegal! Also Bush should have also been tried for the abuse in Abu Grave, isn't he the one who gave the order to the CIA to do whatever it takes? That is why he won the US election!

In the US maybe, particulary in the areas that used electronic voting machines. (There is no audit on those things - and they don't have audit printers even though most are based on ATMs which have printers...)
Howard just knows how to manipulate the ignorant masses. Labour are to busy knifing their leaders to get down to the dirty business of turning out lies for the public. Trying to be honest isn't going to work any more. The Spin sounds better.
Greed wins every time....
