To mark the 150th anniversary of Victoria's (and Australia's) first
railway, the Victorian Government commissioned Associate Professor
Robert Lee of the University of Western Sydney to write a history of the
Victorian Railways.

Having missed the deadline of September last year, the professor has now
formally withdrawn from the project. I understand that one of his major
problems was a lack of sufficient general knowledge of Victorian history
and politics.

The publishers are now sounding out a Victorian historian to pick up the
pieces.

Why not Geoffrey Blainey?

He is:

a. Victorian
b. a historian
c. has written a thing or two about transport (eg 'Tyranny of Distance')

No, it's neither of the above.
