If it's useful software, then maybe you can convince your department to buy a copy and make it available to students for use through one of your school's computer labs. Talk to one of your professors and ask if they'll bring it up in their departmental meeting. Before you do though, be sure to be able to answer their potential questions as to what specific features of this software will provide benefit above and beyond the textbooks and other reference information that you already have available.

That is of course correct, but will take too long to help the particular student with his exam preparations. But may be some students who took the course last year would be prepared to let the CD for a couple of days? Or sell it used? The advantage of this solution would be that its quick and completely legal.
