| We wouldn't say "using the Microsoft Word," so we=20
| wouldn't say "using the XYZZY" either. We'd say=20
| "using XYZZY." Using, running, working with are all
| fine.

What about instances where XYZZY refers to a whole product solution or
suite? We have instances of "the XYZZY *component name*" or "the XYZZY
process" in addition to "running XYZZY". Is it more common to "the or
not to the" or to adjust for each case (running =3D no the, the XYZZY
process =3D the)?

Absolutely adjust for each case, depending on what part of speech the XYZZY
becomes. In the examples above, you've made it into an adjective, so you
need the "the."

"We use the Outlook feature for managing our contacts."

But:

"We use Outlook for e-mail."
