Short of running a FAVER "MAP" command in advance on each tape I would think you'd might be able to get the DRD folks to at least provide the functionality via it's LTAPE command to list the tapes contents. If they use your restore selector command can identify the object on the tape then they can identify object delimiters for listing of the contents. Of course, you could also write your own routine to list the tape contents.

Just a quick note of clarification. Dr.D will list a Faver2 backup with =
its
LTAPE function. It will also restore both VSAM and non-VSAM data using =
the
individual file restore options (RESTORE=3DVSAM and RESTORE=3DDATA). =
Because the
support already exists for these functions and because the use of other
backup tapes (e.g. Faver2, Maxback, etc.) as input to Dr.D is not done
often, if ever, we haven't put that functionality into the LOGICAL
