 | When Jesus Christ went to the cross,
he went in our place, in our stead.
He paid for our sins there.
The righteous one substituted for us.
And so he is righteousness for us.
That is the righteousness that comes
by faith in Jesus Christ for salvation.
Because Christ rather than us
is our righteousness,
we are right with God,
reconciled with God,
and have the free gift of eternal life.
