 | THE ELECT (10/24/2004)
Oh Woooo Gah! The new line Rolls out: Miss Gabriel, Miss Michael, Miss Uriel, wings and chrome and all The extras, fully loaded oil bearers, Lamps lit, flickering in hickory-hard thought.
Soup her up. Run her for office, Yes? Ecstasy in every pot! Dance The Donee to D.C.! Move markets If need be! Staccato-phrase it! Kindly, smiley, misty haze it!
Shiveringly aware of who outlasts A government that's broke-- That cannot pay for schools, for public welfare, That has as its sole purpose saving us From a world that it has led to loathe us-- The lovely, kind and Christian lover, Poor of heart, breathes, yes! Oh, yes! Apocalypse, come!
ADVENT CONSIDERED (11/28/2004)
Sanctuary sought and found in moments In the Advent time-- Peace prepared-- A way readied To hold us, slow us in the fall To darkness we know. We light The candle of hope--first candle.
The pews are oak. Above and around the baptismal arch Is cherry. The preacher reminds us We are not to be afraid. The preacher asks us Why do we sing? Why, when we are falling, Blind?
To celebrate... Celebrate the quiet, the strange, by waiting, As if for the love of a lifetime, On births, deaths, and resurrections.
SPRING CITY ADVENT TREE (12/03/2004)
There is a light No cold, dark night Nor soul's despair Can dim. There, In the eye, hand Of neighbor, friend; Here in the shared Work, where we cared To make better-- To help others. There! Here! The light Philosophers Seek! The light The mystics starve for! Right here! And we Would light a tree-- An evergreen-- And come to lean For comfort on each other-- Each bearer Of hope, light for The world's future.
