 | Lord help me with my tongue today, Lord help me douse the flame. This fire that is spreading fast, will only bring me shame.
I try to use my tongue for praise, and exalting through my lips. But every now and then my tongue, stumbles and it trips.
I can justify this sharpened sword, in the corner of my mind. But conviction stirs within my soul, and my peace is left behind.
While anger is my greatest foe, and that's where it all begins. My tongue is where the battle roars, and where the Devil wins.
My tongue strikes out in my defense, to keep from looking weak. When instead I should have held my peace, and turned the other cheek.
What the Bible says about the tongue, fills my heart with pain. Cause if a man can't bridle his tongue, his religion is in vain.
And the tongue is but a little thing, like a bit is to a horse. Just like the helm of a mighty ship, it will alter it in course.
Though the tongue is but a member small, it defiles the body whole. And is set on fire by Hell itself, and burns our very soul.
So help me with my tongue today, as the embers still are hot. And my victims smolder in the flames, from the wrath that it has brought.
Please help me speak with Godly words, that will glorify your name. And teach my tongue to hold it's peace, regardless whose to blame.
Because pride will come before the fall, and my tongue is falling fast. With it's many victims wounded deep, this madness can not last.
Please help me tame my tongue today, before I suffer loss. I will crucify my tongue today, as I nail it to the Cross.
