 | The wisdom of the world
cannot save anyone;
it cannot give anyone eternal life.
It cannot give the faith
of those who are saved by Christ;
it claims grace but trusts in works.
It will trust in its worldly religions,
and its materialistic science,
and its philosophies of men,
and itself to save itself.
It will seek to discredit the Bible and
propose other writers of later times.
It will look for other explanations
than those given by God.
And it will seek for other gods.
The Wisdom from God is Christ.
He suffered and died for us on the cross
to reconcile us to God.
Jesus Christ has drawn us to himself
and given us the faith
to trust him for salvation,
and he has given us eternal life.
He is our truth, strength, and endurance;
suppositions and legalisms of men
do not blow us about.
The glory of God has shined on us
in the face of Jesus Christ;
he is with God and is God,
and is the life within us.
And in this world
though there be many voices,
the voice of strangers
turns us away,
but the voice known by us
is the voice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He is known by us,
and lives in us,
and is our entire hope and our sure hope of glory.
