I just got a 56858EVM w/CW7. For some reason I can't get the debugger
to connect to the target. I've RTFMed myself half to insanity, but when
I try to debug a sample app, I get an error message:

CCSProtocolPlugin: CCS: Core Not Responding

When I unplug the parallel cable, I get "Cable disconnected" so I know
that the system is at least somewhat working. Is my EVM board DOA?

I get a green power light, but all of the debug LEDs on the board also
are lit, which is not mentioned in the quickstart guide.

Any advice most appreciated...

Hi
I'm not on to 7.0 yet, so don't know if my comments will be any help.

I found that if I had some alternative program trying to use the parallel
port at the same time, I'd get strange error messages.

Also, you can do some stuff with the CCS tool that sits in the system tray,
like check what source it is expecting to translate to/from. You might try
to remove the parallel port handler and reinstall it. I can't quite remember
what doc I used, but this link has the commands for the Command Converter
Server: http://www.freescale.com/files/dsp/doc/user_guide/S56CCSERVER.pdf

Is the JTAG link set correctly? JG5 should not be fitted.

Sorry that I can't help more.
