I upgraded my my system from an Athlon XP 2800+ to a Athlon 64 2800+
thinking it would be faster.. it seems slower now. for instance, when
I load internet explorer, my winamp music gets very scratchy.. I have
a lot of icons on my desktop and they take over 1 min to load. this
did not happen before with the same amount of Icons.

I should also tell you that with my old system I was running two 40G
HD's in Raid 0 (stripping to make one 80GB HD with twice the
performance).. nevertheless the results I get from Sisoft are SO LOW
that either sisoft is a piece of sh*t or there is some severe
bottleneck in my system.

My current System:
ATHLON 64 2800+ overclocked to 968MHZ.
512MB PC3200 RAM
ASUS K8V
Asus 5200 FX

Si soft Sandra 2004 gave me the following Multimedia benchmark:
Integer iSSE2 6392
Float iSSE2 8441

I then decided to upgrade the graphics card to a BFG Nvidea Geforce
6800 OC

my new sisoft multimedia benchmark is
Integer iSSE2 7202
Float iSSE2 9508

I then downloaded Sisoft Sandra lite 2005
when I install it, it says to choose 64bit or 32bit, however it only
has the 32bit option.

Here are my current results with sandra lite 2005

CPU Arithmetic
dhrystone alu 4188 mips
whetstone fpu 2044 mflops

so according to this an athlon xp1600+ is faster than my athlon 64
2800+!!!

multimedia
Integer 9164
floating point 9879

again.. AMD athlong 1ghz is faster according to sisoft refernce

filesytem:

to fragmented..

Ram
INT 2781 Mb/s
float 2750 Mb/s
i guess this is ok

cache @ memory
combined index 3112 MB/s

does anyone have similar results with sisoft 2005

can someone help me identify where the bottleneck is?

thanks

I had a similar problem with my PC about a year ago. The problem that
I had was that DMA was not turned on for my primary and secondary HD
controllers. Once I set the transfer mode to DMA everything worked
fine.
