 | I'm looking for suggestions/recommendations for utilities capable of generating test data sets with (semi-)readable data.
Doesn't have to be too fancy - it's going to be a low frequency exercise but I need something capable of allowing me to populate database tables with data.
Any suggestions?

Use SQL. See Graham Birchall DB2 UDB V8.1 Cookbook http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Graeme_Birchall

 | Ooops, should have said - for formatted data such as addresses phone numbers etc I'd be looking for either a UK data library or a customise option for th edata library to allow me to enter UK data strings.
