The following updates are from the distributedcomputing.info website
( http://distributedcomputing.info/ ). These updates cover public distributed
computing projects (projects in which anyone can participate).

January 6, 2005

- the ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-math.html#15k2n1 ) 15k Prime
Search found 4 primes for k=515106735, 3 primes for k=1581823815, and primes
355424355 * 2^230929 - 1 and 860541825 * 2^187934 - 1 yesterday

- the ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-math.html#xyyxf ) XYYXF project
completed the factorization of 87^80 + 80^87 (a 130-digit composite number)
on December 13, 2004, setting a new GNFS record. On December 30 the project
extended its list of more-wanted composites to 180 numbers "to provide wider
choice for ECM and GNFS tasks." No more numbers will be added until 2006.

- version 2.5.6 of the ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-math.html#ECMNET )
ECMNET client is available for all platforms as January 3. The client is
precompiled for Windows: source code is available for other platforms. The
new version has many new features and improvements.

- version 3.5 of the ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-math.html#32n1 )
3*2^n-1 Search client is available for Windows and Linux as December 27,
2004. Also, users reserving ranges for the project must download a zip file
of all of the range input files. The web page which provided individual
input files was taken down after a "bot" attack.

- version 1.7 of the ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-math.html#sigps )
SIGPS genefer80 client is available for P4 Cygwin and Linux as of December
27, 2004

- version 2.5.0 of the
( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-internet.html#grub ) Grub client is
available for Windows as of December 16, 2004. It contains new features,
such as server-side DNS and faster crawling.
