Folding@home published the results of its study of the p53 tumor suppressor
protein on January 15: mutations in this protein cause half of all known
cancers. These results are "the first peer-reviewed results from a
distributed computing project related to cancer." Also, the project passed
the 170,000 active CPU mark on January 14.

Distributed Hardware Evolution Project may have to shut down indefinitely
unless someone volunteers soon to host the project server

- ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-math.html#cyclotomic ) Factorizations
of Cyclotomic Numbers completed the factorization of the Phi(180) series
today

Search found prime 2995125705 * 2^553148 - 1 on January 14, 4 primes for
k=3825 on January 15, 2 primes for k=105 and prime 129 * 2^214985 - 1 on
January 16, 2 primes for 515106735 and prime 2995125705 * 2^529005 - 1 today

- version 2.5.6 of the ECM client used by
( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-math.html#xyyxf ) XYYXF is available
as of January 3. All XYYXF volunteers should upgrade to the new version as
soon as possible.

- ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-lsciences.html#predictor )
Predictor@home's project servers are sending out work units as of yesterday,
and it has issued all pending credits for previous work units. The project
servers may have temporary outages from now until January 21, while they are
tuned.

- ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-science.html#lhcathome ) LHC@home
released its third status report on January 14. The BOINC project server
will be installed on new hardware next week. The Sixtrack application core
has been improved. New work will appear on the project server in the last
week of January, and full production runs will begin in early February.
