 | Is there any updates for TextPlus so it works correctly with 6.1?? TextPlus won't name any images with a selected index field but will name a folder with the index data and then put the image 1.tiff in that folder. Also it won't create pdf's with 6.1. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

 | Thanks Russell. I actually got the image file named after the index field (don't know how!) but the pdf still doesn't work. I can live with Tiffs. Thanks for the heads up on the language. I am a one man IT Dept and I don't have time to learn how to write the scripts, I'll look into some prewritten ones that are for purchase. Thanks and have a good holiday.

 | How is the PDF made? Prior to version 6, Ascent could only make PDFs when it was linked up with Adobe Capture 3. The settings were all done from the tab where you have the drop-down list that selects the release file type (TIFF, JPEG, etc). I think most all release scripts should work OK with this, but you'll have to get Adobe Capture up and running. (Sorry, regular Adobe won't do the job.) Version 6 still supports this mode of PDF for backward compatibility.
Starting with Ascent Capture 6, Kofax bought the ABBYY product that creates PDFs as a new processing queue. This requires a separate release function in the release script. If you use Kofax's own text release you see it as a separate option of where to release PDF. So you could release the PDF and the TIFF file as well. The catch is that since this was added at version 6, release scripts that were written for prior versions of Ascent won't support this new functionality.
So the bottom line is that since you have an older release script, you can't use Kofax's new PDF ability and if you don't have Adobe Capture up and running you can't do any PDFs the old way.

 | I haven't heard of one. You might ask about the Customizable Text Release script. It's more flexible and can release the PDFs created by Ascent starting in version 6.0. However, it's far more complex to set up and program. In fact the programming language is really hard to work with. You'll need good troubleshooting skills to make it work.
