 | Hi,
I'm encountering really strange behaviours with my remote panels and hours of reconfiguration and search in the labview help and web site didn't help... Here it is:
1) i m using Labview 7 Express and have a VI for use through remote panels. Laview and the VI are on a computer on our LAN. When i access the remote panel (with Internet Explorer) from a computer on the same LAN, everything works fine; i can view and control it. If i try to do exactly the same thing from home, IE displays the usual square border (which means that it can connect to the Labview Web Server => no firewall problem) but displays "Server does not support remote panels" instead of the usual "Loading panel" message. I know that the server supports remote panels as i can connect from a computer on our LAN. So what could cause this problem?
2) I though that the problem was due to some licensing issues. So, i've looked on the NI Web site and found out that: - Labview base edition does not support remote panels - Labview Full edition has one remote panel license supplied - Labview professional edition has 5 remote panels licenses supplied
Problem: when i go to the about box in Labview, it just tells me: "Labview 7 Express". No mention of base, full or professional edition. How do i know which edition i have?
My labview version supports remote panels, so i must have the full or pro edition. When i go to the license manager window in Labview, it tells me that i have 1 RemotePanelConnection license. So i must have the full edition. However, it also tells me: "For evaluation only. Activation required for licensed version". So what? What should i do? It seems to work anyway (well, only within the LAN actually).
And here comes the weird part: as i have only 1 remote panel license, i should only be able to connect from 1 computer at a time. But if i try to connect simultaneously from 3 different computers on my LAN, they can all view and request control of my VI! How is that possible?
I would really appreciate some clarification about those base/full/pro editions, licenses and strange "Server does not support remote panels" messages.
Thanks in advance
