I just installed a brand new e-Geforce2 mx 400 video card. Now my
windows XP PC will not stay on. After booting up, the windows desktop
starts to load. There's a balloon message in the tray saying that new
hardware has been detected. Regardless of that I also notice that the
desktop suddenly changes and has the Restore Active Desktop button.
Regardless of what I do, it lasts about 20 seconds before it just turns
off.
I've checked the BIOS screen and it says
SLOT 2 - VGA controller - IRQ 10
- Audio Device - IRQ 10
(Onboard) - VGA controller - Disables

I've gone in on safe mode and disabled the other video device (s4
savage something or other, the video on the mother boards which stopped
working, which is way I got the new card in the first place). Once I
disabled that, it finally allowed me to install the drivers from the CD
(only could do this from Device Manager, not from the CD itself which
just gave the error ADM5.exe encountered a problem and needs to close.)
In the device manager it says this there are no conflicts, but the IRQ
thing disturbs me. I keep rebooting, but the same things happen. What
else can I do? Is the new card maybe just broken?
