A customer has supplied me with some PDF files that he has produced
using Adobe Indesign CS v3.0. He has pre-flighted them using PitStop
v6.0.1.0.

After the files have been processed by PitStop, some of the graphics on
the page have moved downwards and to the left by several millimetres.
The original files are fine.

Has anyone heard of this kind of thing happening before? Is there a
solution.

Thanks,

Phil

Thanks, Mike.

I've just spoken to the customer again. He explained that there is a
patch for PitStop which is recommended when processing Indesign files.
I suggested that he tried it.

He was also unaware that PitStop was re-writing the files! When I told
him that the evidence suggested that this was the case he was unaware
as to why.

Investigations continue...

The most likely scenario is that Pitstop is resampling the graphics and,
because it is most probably a PDF 1.5, this is causing unexpected
results.

Tick the checkbox in the Pitstop Profile to prevent Pitstop from making
changes. This way, it will only report and not fix anything.

It may also be wise to reduce the PDF level being exported from Indesign
to 1.4 or write Postscript from Indesign with appropriate flattening
settings and Distill.

We've had a few minor but weird issues with Indesign CS PDFs and are
writing Postscript from this application until we resolve the PDF issues.

Regards

Mike
