For critical error 101 this works (but not everyone). See if the DCOM service is running. - Start / Run / DCOMCNFG - Navigate to Component Services\Computers\My Computer - Right Click Properties - Go to the COM security tab - Click 'Edit Default' in the 'Access Permissions' group box - Add the user you logged in as with allowed access
It doesn't work for everyone (it didn't work for me). But it might work for you.

I did a search before begging you for help. I updated the ms antispyware program via the control panel. I removed, redownloaded, and reinstalled the ms antispyware program. I changed permissions of my program files directory. I deleted ms antispyware again and installed it in C:\spyware.
The DCOM service (whatever that is) is set to automatic. The DCOM service has the proper permissions for "Administrator". Still I get critical error 103.
I'm running on Windows XP Service Pack II. Do you know what the problem is or how to debug? I'm just a regular mom who can follow directions. But I don't really know what I am doing.
Any idea why MS AntiSpyware gives critical error 103?
