 | Hi,
Hope there are some Netscreen experts or owners out there who can help me.
We are considering a Netscreen 5GT Plus as firewall and router for a small residential network. Basically, we want to share internet access between 20 appartments with maximum security and reliability at minimum cost.
I have read in Netscreen's guide Concepts & Examples that we can set the ports in Combined Mode to have a backup connection to the internet which is only active if the primary fails (Failover).
This is clever if we have a second line which is paid for based on how much we use it. It would 'lie dormant' most of the time, costing us very little.
However, we might also want run another connection all the time for maximum bandwidth. The two interfaces would then be active simultaneously, as described under Trust/Untrust/DMZ Mode in the guide. This is called Load Balancing as opposed to Failover, I gather.
We would like to have the option to use either, but we are hoping that we don't have to pay extra for the Extended version.
But the guide is not very clear at this point. It says that Trust/Untrust/DMZ Mode is only available in the Extended version of the 5GT. But I cannot figure out if this applies to the Load Balancing function as well as the DMZ, or if that is also available in the cheaper Plus version.
So I guess the short version of my question is this: Is Combined Mode with Load Balancing available in the Netscreen 5GT Plus?
