 | I hope someone has figured out how to get around this problem. I have a new computer that is crashing on Dragon Naturally Speaking ver 7. Specifics: Tyan S5101 motherboard, 3.2 gig Intel P4 processor and 2 gig DRAM, Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS sound card. It is the sound card that seems to be a probem. When I get the blue screen of death, a report sent to MS indicates an unknown sound card problem. The card is listed as compatible by ScanSoft- and they have been no help. DNS was upgradeed to sp2 (ver 7.3). At first the BSOD came when the DNS icon was clicked right after the welcome scree and before the progranloaded. Through a series of compromises in the bios, I can now load and oporate the program- bit that is of no help as it crashes randomly during use. I have installed the latest drivers from Soundblaster. I have turned of all hardware acceleration on the sound card (which makes it pretty worthless). Any other ideas?

So I'll answer my own question in case somebody else experiences this problem. I had upgraded from a Soundblaster Live card. I did the unistall, but it occurred to me that maybe all files were not properly deleted and some old version was giving a conflict even after installing the Audigy drivers and software. I used a utility to monitor installations (Norton Cleansweep) and un installed the Audigy drivers and software and forced an install of the original soundblaster live drivers and software. I then monitored the uninstall of the old card's files with cleansweep. Sure enough, 5 files in the windows and windows system32 directory and 6 registry entries were not properly uninstalled. I removed these manually, reinstalled the audigy card's drivers and software, and the dreaded BSOD has not returned. DNS has been running with me periodically dictating into dragonpad for 6 hrs, and it had been crashing after just a few minutes, so it looks like the problem has been resolved.
