I just tried to find the difference between Microsoft Works and Word
(even at the Microsoft site!) on the Internet. Why should this be so
difficult?!

Since I cannot do Select-and-Say with my WordPerfect, and any
corrections delete a previous character and leave an extra character
that I have to correct; hence lots of extra problems, I would like to
get a word processor that works with DNS 7.

If Microsoft Works is that one that opens that task manager, I don't
want it. ALL I WANT is a word processor, that screen, for letters and
pages for a document.

Thank you

So it's (the huge) Word I need --?
I thought Works was more simplified, but as I said, I don't want all
that task manager stuff.
And as I am still confused about the differences, I hope Word doesn't
include spreadsheet, data base stuff, all that. I don't need all that.
Just a word processor.
Thank you.

Hello,

I have used and developed software for Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional
version number seven for about a year.

In my experience, "select and say" works with:

Microsoft Word
DragonPad (the word processor bundled with Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
WordPad (usually included with Windows for free)
Notepad (a simple text editor usually included with Windows for free)

You can perform most common word processing operations in DragonPad.
DragonPad reads and writes Rich Text Format documents. RTF documents can be
written and read by Microsoft Word and most other word processing programs.

Best wishes,

Kammet,

Dragon NaturallySpeaking has built in functionality to work with
Microsoft Word. It is not perfect but works darn well for normal
documents. It is known to choke on big documents of 100 pages plus or
when working within tables.
