I've been told that Apple computers don't get viruses. I'd like to know if
this is true or an urban myth. Also, would appreciate if someone could tell
me an Apple equiv of my outdated PC - I'm running AMD Duron 1gb with 512mb
SDram 40gb hard drive and DVD burner. Any info much appreciated.

Well, I can tell you there hasn't been a virus written for the Apple //
series computers in over 25 years. ;-)

As for more modern Apple computers, I'd suggest you ask in a Mac
newsgroup instead.

For information on current Apple Macintosh models go to http://www.apple.com

There are not nearly as many descructive programs written for that
machine/operating system. Perhaps because there aren't as many of them,
perhaps because there aren't as many people who hate Apple as hate
Microsoft, perhaps because the OS has better security, perhaps because
the moon doesn't effect Mac users as badly (hint - check the def of
"lunatic").

Viruses are written to defile a platform which is viable to business
and widely used. Apple computers, are not so widely used in most
areas, so no need to defile them. Hence, less viral attacks. :o)

As far as your PC being outdated, think again. None of mine are
even close to being as powerful as yours. My fastest PC is 350 MHz.
Does everything I need it to do, and then some. I have half the memory,
half the hard drive and only a CD burner. You can get twice as good
a PC for $500-$700 complete, so why fight it. :o)
