Hey everybody,

There is a new book coming out about building a replica apple 1 (not written
by me). It covers all the hardware and design of the replica including
schematics and board example.

And for all the Woz fans, he wrote the Forward. Here's the link for more
info:

Cheers,

Vince

Vince,

You have replicaed Apple I from original. One question -- did you
replica video to be exact identical? Is it only 45 baud per second? When
you type characters, each character appear in the screen at 45 baud per
second. It is much slower than Apple II.
It is what I am looking for. If it is already had one, do you have
replica Apple I left for sale?

The video speed of the Apple 1 is 60 characters per second. The screen is
40x24 upper case only and the Apple 1 used 2513 character generator ROM for
the character set. The replica 1 emulates the video section using a
microcontroller, flip-flop and shiftregister (3 IC's).

While the inspiration for the Apple II may have come from the Apple 1, they
are completely different computers. No addressable video memory, 1 slot
(usually used for the cassette interface), B & W scrolling text only display
with no ability for graphics without an add-on board, no BASIC built in ROM,
only a simple monitor program and no add-on hardware from Apple except the
cassette interface.

Vince,

Thanks for the information. Do you still have replica Apple I left so
you can sell?

Bryan, just go to my web site and you can buy one there. Since you seem like
you are into electronics, the kit might be the way you want to go, nothing
like building your own computer from a kit.
