 | There are two video connectors out there on the C64, one 5-pin, the other (more recent) 8-pin. Given how long ago the 1702 with its chroma/luma support came out, am I correct in assuming that even the 5-pin provides the proper signal for a better-than-composite chroma/luma connection to a 1702 or other, capable monitor? Thanks.

 | Where can I get 8-pin chroma/luma cables? Thanks.

As far as I'm aware, the 5-pin only includes composite video. The 8-pin includes both composite and Y/C. The 5-pin cable will work in an 8-pin port but not the reverse.
