Hallo,
I am running Visual dBASE Version 5.5, upgraded to 5.7
and am unable to address my 6110 HP- Printer, which is connected via USB port.

In my application, when I issue the commands :

chooseprinter()
Report form to printer

I get the error message : no print destination specified .
Are there any upgrades available for USB connected printers ?

Greetings from Namibia

Look in binaries for a post by Dave Covill that was posted on 12/15/2004. There are 2 pdf's that have work arounds for this problem (one written by me). Basically, Windows XP, USB printers and 16 bit applications do not work well together.

Good Luck

You may need to add the printer a second time, assiging it to an
available LPT port. Check the documentation/cd that came with the
printer.

Yhe documentation requires a USB port. No choices offered.

Right, the printer is physically connected to the USB port, but you can
add the printer a second time and print through a virtual LPT port.

Hmm, checking where I had done this, it appears I did it to allow a DOS
program to print to the USB connected printer. Probably would not
resolve your problem then.

Hallo,
I found something funny:
When I issue the command :

report form to printer

I get the desired printout result, but when I issue the commands:

Chooseprinter()
report form to printer

I get the error message: no print destination specified
And when I issue the command:
Chooseprinter()
the program hangs up, showing 'dbase not responding.'
Any suggestions ?
Hanjo
