What is the first novel to be written from the viewpoint of a child,
either in the first or third person.

I can't think of anything earlier than the C19. Dickens, Twain,
Stevenson, er, that's it?

Come to think of it, there aren't many poems either.

Is this something to do with the falling birthrate and decreases in
child mortality? Children not being as disposable as they once were?
