 | (1) Is there a maximal length for USB cables? If so, how long?
(2) Where can one buy long USB cables in Dublin?
I bought a very cheap "webcam" at Lidl, but the USB cable with it is only 1 metre long.
Any info gratefully received.

(1) 3 or 5 metres, check out the USB site www.usb.org/faq You can add hubs to extend it to a max of 5 hubs or 30 metres absolute max. (This is the cable section of the FAQ) www.usb.org/faq/ans5
(2) Marx in Fairview have cables for 3 Euro and hubs starting at 15 Euro.

If you're looking for an extension lead, you could try eBay: I picked up a 10' one there for around ?4 including P&P - far cheaper than Dublin.
For a 10' USB cable (not an extension cable, rather an A->B cable), they sell them at ITDirect on Parliament St for around around ?5-10. Looking at their range now, it seems to have improved and they also have extension leads.
Maximal length? I've hooked together 2 10' leads with no problem. (Laptop to USB modem - am updated to wireless soon :)
