I'm an absolute beginner in Linux world, but I would like to abandon XP...
As I said in the Subject I'm running FC3...
My problem is that I can't "install" a profile for LAN device in my
Network manager in order to run my bundled wi-fi card.
In particular I'm concerned with this problem because I use my Vaio at
work (using a cable LAN, wih determined IP etc.) and at home (with
dynamic IP etc.).
Can anyone drive me through a corect setup, please?
Thanks

I need more details. If you run, as root, the:

# /usr/bin/hwbrowser

program, and click on the "Network Devices" entry, what does that say
about your NIC?

Also run, as root, these commands:

# lspci

# lsusb

and post the results.

Thanks!

You have to tell us what kind of computer and what hardware that in it,
that first thing you send; and stay cool everything will be all right.

Ok... just thought that Sony Vaio X505 was enough... It's an originally
WinXP Pro powererd notebook, but don't ask me much more about ist
"inner" configuration. The only thing I came to know is that MAYBE its
PCMCIA wi-fi is an Atheron (?) powered card. That's all, but I'm not
sure about it.
Thank you for your fastest answer, anyway.
