 | Thanks a lot! Hi
I am doing some research on the current offerings of Linux Server solutions available in the market and would tremenduously value some feedback from you on the following questions. As a strong proponent of open source software, I am trying to do a gap analysis to determine how linux and, in particular cetain distributions can be improved to beter cater to the emerging needs of enterprises and private consumers. Focusing on the SERVER side, please help me answer the following:
1. What features would you like that don't exist in Linux today? If you would like to have 5 new features, what would they be?
2. What improved functionality should it offer? (e.g. better User Interface, etc.)
3. How will the technology evolve over the next two years?
4. What features that are proprietary today will become commoditized and should thus be built into the kernel?
5. Where does Linux technology fall short today?
6. What features will a Linux server need to offer to meet the needs of a data center customer?
If you could refer to specific distributions in your answers, it would be great.
Once again, I thank you all for your help. If you include your particulars/company names etc. with your responses, I would acknowledge your help on our website and if you'd like, also add a link driving more traffic to yours.
Raghav
