 | Hi I want to upgrade my phones battery. It uses 4 aa NiCd cells. I want to replace these with 4 NiMH as the mAh is greater. But I have also heard that NiMH cells don't hold a charge as long as NiCd cells.

 | NiMH don't have the same memory effect as NiCd. They also don't last well if overcharged.

Hmmm, - I had heard the same thing - so I did a google search on:- "Battery Characteristics" and this is one of the pages I found -
http://www.shida-batteries.com/bcp.html
looks like they have almost exactly the same self discharge rates.
One of the other things that I have 'heard' is the amount of use each/either can be used for differs. NiMH can only goto 10 percent of capacity before being recharged. should completely discharge NiCd before recharge.
cheers
