Many thanks for such a full reply TEXAN.
Thanks to all others how replied, it sems that Vanlines should be
avoided.
Crown seems VERY expensive, their quote is a little more than double
of the others.
Any thoughts on Allied Pickfords ??
Cheers.

You get what you pay for.
They are expensive but worth every penny.

They exercise extreme care when packing and shifting stuff with the result
of zero losses, damage or delays.

Very high standards worldwide.

I agree on this comment ,my mother in law shifted intercity with them
without
a single problem, included some fragile antiques.

I have never used Crown, but have heard good things about them even
from their opposition, so I guess they can't be all bad.

Alied Pickford seem OK packing reasonably thorough, my problem with
them was delivery, my stuff turned up over about a 3 week period,
price was very good though. One thing to be wary of is add ons,
insurance isn't usually quoted for unless you ask for it, and it does
vary from company to company by quite a margin.

When I moved here from Vancouver "The Moving Company" took care of the
Christchurch, NZ side of things. I had no problems FWIW.

I used Allied. On the day some raggle taggle chaps casually arrived,
and I thought uh oh. They were fab. Did a good job, worked very hard,
not a single loss or breakage.

They were reasonably expensive, but I cannot fault the service

Don't know about AP, but we used Grace earlier this year, and they were
great - careful, easy to talk to, good service, would use them again.
(Initially looked at them on the say-so of a workmate.)
Family used them recently on our recommendation and also found them to
be really good.

Both moves were across town, PBO. I've got no interest in the company
other than being a satisfied customer.

Not recently, but in 1998 and I found them hopeless, damaging and losing a
lot of our precious belongings. Their support afterwards was non-existent

I used them in 1999 and found their service mediocre, packing though
adequate barely so, transport and delivery reasonable, breakages few,
after sales service very poor, price reasonable. I think I had the
packer from hell, all she wanted to do was get in get out and move on,
and took little care in packing, the other staff however did take care
which I suspect is the only thing which led to the low breakage rate I
had.
