I have the following section in my Opera6.ini file (the one shown in
"Help", "About"):

[Local CSS Files]
Name 12=Show Tables
File 12=C:\Documents and Settings\Steve\My Documents\Tables.css

Since installing 8.0 beta this entry no longer appears in the "Author
Mode" choices.

Have I made a mistake, or is this a bug? I notice that the corresponding
entries in the active OperaDef6.ini include lines such as:

Translated name 1=69483

It works here, I have some additional local CSS files available using the
[Local CSS Files] entry in Opera6.ini. Maybe make sure the numbering is
consecutive? Your numbers in opera6.ini should pick up where OperaDef6.ini
stopped, or start earlier to override entries from OperaDef6.ini.

No problem if you miss those entries in your additional style files in
opera6.ini, but they will override the names for same-numbered entries in
opera6.ini with the string in the active language file.

I have finally gotten around to adding some local CSS files
myself. (Thanks, Steve, for starting this thread).
But why isn't "[Local CSS Files]" mentioned at:

?

Because that document is quite old, and hasn't been updated for the new
entries in Opera 7.

Make sure there isn't a gap in the numbering between the entries in
operadef6.ini and opera6.ini. Opera will stop reding these immediately
when it encounters a missing entry (so if operadef6.ini doesn't have an
11th entry, the 12th will never be read).

Also make sure that the CSS file actually exists, any non-existant files
will be ignored.

Don't forget to enable user style sheets for author mode (I forgot that =

Aha! That was it. Thanks.

I'd tried that, and it did not help, but I have restarted my system a few
times since then, and now it is working.
