Any ideas how to read it and use in opera's news feeds?

Opera doesn't currently understand atom. So all you can do for now is wait.

But You can convert atom to rss :-)
PS: personally i prefer to get rss into ICQ (rss.jabber.ru)
Drawback is that it only understands strict RSS, with no XHTML text
decorations, so for LiveJournal.com i still use Opera :-)

I use Opera M2 and FreePOPs for Gmail.
If you download and use FreePOPs, set your incoming POP Server to:
127.0.0.1 and use Port Number: 2000
Enter your email address: username@gmail.com as your username.
