Another one.
I have no idea why but my Opera install lost many Web settings, mainly
automatic detection of me. My Google preferences are gone, my
automatic sign-in to various forums have gone - all of them
cookie-based (I assume).
When I try to set my preferences with Google they tell me my cookies
have to be enabled (they are!); like MSN/Passport they don't recognise
it correctly.

I know what it is: The setting "Accept all cookies" is still needed to
make cookies work correctly (instead of "Accept only cookies set to
the server itself").
