 | I really like to see in the transfer window where a given file came from. However, where does the info go after the files no longer show in the transfer window? How can I find out where the file xyz0$iup.zip came from that I downloaded last october? HOw can I extend the reach of the window back in time? Which file holds the info, where do I look in old Opera directories? THanks Fritz -- /m2/

In the Linux version at least (since that's what I'm using right now - but mostly Windows would be the same) there is a file named download.dat. But if you've removed the file from the Transfers window, Opera would not keep track of it any longer.

Yes, Windows also uses download.dat. The file is not designed to be easily read, but the format is described at .
The default time for which data is kept is only a few days (7 IIRC). That can be modified (e.g. to about a year) by a section in opera6.ini like:
[TransferWindow] LogEntryDaysToLive=365
A large download.dat file may have an effect on Opera's startup time. Checking includes not only whether the file is still there, but also extracts the icon to show with each file from whatever program is associated with that type of file.

I am thinking of writing a little script that builds & adds to a database of memory joggings, as a scheduled task. The GRAND DOWNLOAD HISTORY.
