 | can I save my Opera window and all the tabs in it, to pull it up later? It looks like SaveSession saves ALL the windows, and when I pull it up later it adds a couple of empty windows too (why is that?)

Yep, save session is what you want. However, before you save your session, ensure all Opera windows, tabs, page history, etc. are in order before saving the session. When saving the session, ensure the "Show these pages every time I start Opera" is checked on. That way, the next time you restart Opera, it will remember everything the way you saved it.
One thing to keep in mind about opening saved sessions /after/ Opera has started, is that the originating window used to open the session remains open. Thus, you typically end-up with an extra window...which is fine, since you might actually be working in that window, and you can always close it rather easily.
Other than that, you can always choose to open from a saved session via Preferences> Start and exit> Start with saved session -or- [X] Show start-up dialog to select which session you'd like to open.

ah, so that's why it's opening at least one empty window........ I think I'm getting a couple though, sometimes.

thank you
I WOULD like to see a SaveWindow feature, instead of all Opera windows. That would make things neater for me, since I usually keep all pages relevant to only one subject in one window. Sometimes I'm working on Subject A and I'll see something that pertains to Subject B, and I'd like to open the B window and add a tab and close it to cut down on clutter on the desktop.

FWIW, here's what I do...
I open one Opera window, then open a bunch of pages relating to a single topic (eg. News), then I save that single window as a session (eg. News.win). Then, I close all pages in that window, open more pages for another topic (eg. Sports), then I save that window as a new session (eg. Sports.win). Etc, etc...
When finished, I've just created N number of single window sessions that I can open in separate Opera windows whenever I want.
Over time, I have created sessions for news, sports, stocks, weather, games, and more...and all are single window Opera sessions.
